Our Rangatahi Services Coaches can assist 16 or 17 year olds without dependants, who may be eligible for the Youth Payment. Our Rangatahi Services Coaches can assist 16 to 19 year olds with tamariki, who may be eligible for the Youth Parent Payment.

Housing support and advocacy

Sustaining Tenancies is a service that supports individuals and whānau who are potentially at risk of losing their tenancy. Ka Tipu – Homeless looks to help our homeless whānau, living in overcrowded situations, and needing support. Emergency Housing works with whānau who are staying in motels/hotels, supporting them to access long term housing. Transitional Housing provides a wraparound social and health service to the whānau who don’t have anywhere to live and urgently need a place to stay. Toitū Housing can help whānau receive assistance to build on their own whenua.

Whānau Wellbeing Youth Mentoring offers mentoring for at risk rangatahi aged 16-24. Taking a non-clinical approach, our Mataora Service provides free mental health and advocacy support for those with immediate concerns. Mana Ake works to enhance positive wellbeing for rangatahi that are Year 13 or younger, across Te Tairāwhiti. Te Oranga Hinengaro is a Mental Health and Addictions Service. Whānau Wellbeing provides support for whānau who are in crisis, or at high risk of poor life outcomes. - Whānau Wellbeing Service also provides Whānau Support, which looks to reducing need and stress within clients.

Nga Pae Matarau aims to support, provide a safe space, educate, and resource hapū māmā, whānau, and Tairāwhiti whānui about the effects of alcohol exposure whilst hapū

Te Hokinga Mai works with whānau before and post release to ensure they are connected to the benefits system, have housing, and have their basic needs met. Whangaia Kete provides intervention that enhances opportunities for mana motuhake with whānau experiencing family harm. Whakaora Koti supports whānau through the court process and assessing their needs based on the whānau voice. Tikanga Motivational Programmes, Te Ihu Waka, is for whānau in the justice system. Whānau Engagement has a range of services which all work to support rangatahi, kaumātua, pakeke, and whānau on their journey to wellbeing. Te Pae Oranga is a service available for whānau in Gisborne and Ruatoria who are low risk or first time offenders. It gives them the opportunity to not go to court or have a record with police.

Since 2006, Ngāti Porou Oranga (formerly known as Ngāti Porou Hauora) has been an active research partner with local and international academics on topics including genomic research, health literacy, gout, new approaches to diabetes prevention, and other areas of Māori Health. Population Health and Research continue Dr Paratene Ngata’s vision “For Ngāti Porou Hauora to lead our own research, as a tikanga and research-based centre of excellence for Hauora Māori”
